Oh my god, oh my god, I absolutely adored this. Sometime into reading this (I think it was maybe three seconds) I started grinning and it only got wider as I went on. I especially love how easily you've nailed Jesse as a character here - planned speeches, thought process, everything - and even as I was smiling, I was still a little suspicious of him, I think? And that final reveal where he's trying to help her as much as he's trying to break ND made me beam, and I think I may have applauded.

And I do just love the plot of the thing - Rachel meeting someone new, because damn it, she needs a friend; the others being immediately annoyed by it; the way she reacts to it, the way he reacts to her reacting to it, etc. Just fantastic - and exactly what I want happening ( ... )
