There

You won‘t look at me,
you won‘t talk to me,
you won‘t even mention me.
No, you just pour
yourself another drink,
discuss the weather.
Did you know
that we‘re good acquaintances,
the weather and I?
It rather enjoys my company,
as does the floor.
Only my presence
makes them exciting,
fascinating,
worth talking about.
But while they
merely exist,
I can jump and sing,
dance upon the table.
Oh, the grim satisfaction
of tinkling porcelain!
Not that you take note
nor does he, or she.
I‘ve painted myself pink
just for the sake
of announcing my presence
- you ignore me.
So I assure that the evening
is nothing but uncomfortable
For you
and her
and him
As your personal
pachyderm.
