Teflon, eh?

Yes, I am stretching my ears using teflon tape, and I was wondering how the easiest way it would be to apply it smoothly (the plugs i'm using are 14 g so it's sort of hard with something so small). I was also wondering the length of tape I should use each time I stretch and how often I should add more, etc. Just basic information if anyone has it
