My point exactly.

But even if he were able to close the distance and capture a "door" (inner or outer), drunken dude's strikes are pretty freakin' weak and clearly lack structural backing. He'd have to hit the Kyokushin fighter with full shoulder and body blows to make any sort of real damage.

I feel bad for the drunken dude. Clearly, he's paid someone to teach him this crap and has probably developed a lot of bad habits and shattered fantasies around the material.

I'd agree with that. I've seen some drunken techniques in which you sort of grapple with and put your whole weight onto the opponent. As if you were "laying" on them.

I pretty much agree with your assessment. And from my perspective the strengths of Drunken boxing are in it's training not necessarily in it's application, especially in terms of using it as your one main style.
