So, Mallory, what do you do?

I was once asked this by a five foot nothing Canadian beauty after we'd shared an abundance of tequila. We were sitting around a fireplace in her ridiculously beautiful estate in Brentwood. Nia and Ian had brought the most amazing guacamole I've ever tasted. Surrounded by beautiful people and face to face with my muse, I couldn't seem to have the ( Read more... )

Honey, I don't even have half the experience you have(working at school and playing instruments) and I'm tired of it as well.

I've come to the conclusion that I have such a fear of succeeding and the responsibilities it comes with, that I continue to work at places like Borders instead of doing what I truly love.

If it's any consolation, you do rock my world when you perform.

Well, if you're feeling up to it, the Gardenia has open mic cabaret on Tuesday nights...........I know I always feel better after a night of no strings, just plain fun singing. Or whatever's clever.

P.S. How was your show?

P.S.S. Hear from the H group yet?

I find this relatable in so many ways. All I'd need to do is to change out 'music' with 'writing'. :) And I know a lot of people in this creative little community/group feel that way. And I always wonder, are creative people by nature frightened of their own talent? Because we work and work, but when we need that one push to get over the top, we back off. I've seen it time and time again, in both myself and many of my friends.

thanks for writing this. :) And as Cat said, you are most definitely NOT a loser.

This may be the perfect question to ask the guys then. Find out how they push themselves when they're feeling down or unworthy, etc. Of course, they started so young, when you have no fear, and endless reservoirs of energy and personal power, but still ....

Oh goodness, honey. Do I hear what you're saying.

I'm about to be finished with college and I feel like, if anything, I'm just more and more confused about what to do with my life now... Le sigh. It's not a fun boat to be in, but at least you're in good company.
