crazy old world ain't it? can't even get a moments rest without reading about some crazy muslim and their sex troubles these days ^_^;

I've never had a problem with ex's not wanting to be friends, I can understand that it may not be do-able... just so long as they are truthful about it! I hate the for-the-sake-of-politeness "Let's stay friends" and then absolutely no contact, and active avoidence, that's far ruder and more hurtful than the truth in the end.
