A common theme I notice in the parnoid ramblings of wingnuts and seemingly rational people alike is a mistaken belief that Islam is monolithic. There is a huge amount of discourse within Islam about all aspects and interpretations of holy texts. There are widely varying degrees of "moderatism" and "extremism". The faithful are capable of exploring their faith rationally and objectively. Most people agree this is the case with Christianity, so why not Islam? It's like the old second wave feminists who accuse Islam of being cripplingly sexist while failing to acknowledge the active and ongoing discourse on women in which women play an active role. maddening.

But hey, she's crazy! You just have to remember that they won't win.
