Good call! :-) I wonder how the little bugger got in a pot on my enclosed balcony? I figured it was a random weed, but its so pretty I think I'll leave it alone. So much for growing a lemon tree! Not that it would be possible in NYC weather, but you never know. I have a longan plant about a foot and a half tall in my living room and its definitely not tropical weather in there :-)
You know, I constantly find acorns sprouting from our planters on the balcony and I'm guessing that it's a squirrel that was passing through or a bird flying by, dropping its loot.
Lucky for you, you got something pretty! The majority of weeds growing in our pots are those clovers! ugh!! Once you try to pull them out, their delicate stems snap off or you trigger their seed pods to blow up everywhere. Vicious cycle!!!
I'm gonna try for a lychee plant next - drying out a handful of pits for planting later. I need to start labeling these various experiments of mine! I have no idea what ends up sprouting. I stuck a starfruit pit and a pineapple seed in some random pot and I can't remember where so I'm afraid to pull out any "weeds" in case it's something cool growing in there :P
