OH. How... perfect. As always, I love the cadence, the rythem to your writing, but I especially loved the paragraph about Josh and women, that just rang so completely true with me, and I loved it. You really have them down to a bit. I also loved this: All they had to do was realize the rules they never completely followed don’t apply anymore. That Toby won’t kill him. That CJ can actually be happy for her. That Leo can do what he would have wished he could have done, and lecture Josh about something important like buying her flowers and leaving the toilet seat down instead of how this will be spun in the morning papers. Sniff. And Leo'll never know........ *wibbles*
Lol, I guess I'll put you out of your misery, since I guess not everyone is as neurotically obsessed as I am :-)
SCULLY: Mulder, it's the dim hope of finding that proof that's kept us in this car, or one very much like it for more nights than I care to remember. Driving hundreds if not thousands of miles through neighborhoods and cities and towns where people are raising families and buying homes and playing with their kids and their dogs, and... in short, living their lives. While we - we - we just keep driving.
MULDER: What is your point?
SCULLY: Don't you ever just want to stop? Get out of the damn car? Settle down and live something approaching a normal life?
Seriously, I love both of these couples so much. Maybe I'm just a masochist for brilliant, over-smart, perpetually lonely and ridiculously good looking yet sexually frustrated and repressed TV pairings of awesomeness.
Heheehee... well I stole the title from Corinne Bailey Rae, too, so I'm not one to talk!
But I loved this - I think what you said about Josh liking women is spot on. There are some men who do like women in the way you describe and some who don't (long story!) but I think Josh is definitely in the former category.
And oh, he's trying to be what she wants... *sniff*.
Yea, I was listening to her, and also that ever-so-gorgeous horn O Holy Night from S60 when I wrote this. So it just had to happen. Whatever the critics said about S60, it can't be said that they didn't have great music!
And seriously, every woman must have a story about the man that just... didn't like women. Not on a sexual level, but in that more intrinsic way. No one can say that about Josh, though! I guess beyond his relationship with D, the thing that touched me the most about his character was the deep abiding friendship with CJ that I just LOVED. So much love. I die just about every time I see that hug after Germany.
As always, thanks so much for the commentage and for the partial title rights! ;-)

Amazing.

Well, at least in this fictional time frame Leo will surely find out. Because seriously, could Josh have kept his mouth shut? Probably not. :-)

Wow, I seem to be stuck in the angst-fest of Season 6 and early 7.
You say that as if it were a bad thing :p
I love the tone and the rhythm, they just fit so perfectly with the situation. The part about Josh liking women is wonderfully spot on.
There's something alluring about dysfunctional couples and late night encounters in a hotel bar. Fantastic job :)

And seriously. Give me a bar and some whisky and I'd happily write any couple, ever. (Wheels grind for a multi-fandom fic).
Thank you!!!
