21 - Zadie Smith - On Beauty - much better than either White Teeth or Autograph Man, this book manages to explore some serious issues in an interesting way. Good read with believable characters and plot which surprises at many turns.

The insufficiently investigative book that's getting on my wick at the moment is City of Sin by Catharine Arnold.

What's that one about then? Your welcome to borrow Good Thick Skirt if you want, I like Mads gave it to me.

I've not got that far yet. I borrowed it off K - I've not read the other two yet, but they're apparently a bit better, as there's less opportunity for sensationalism.

The main thing that was making me rant was taking the word of Roman satirists as truth - much like trying to use Viz as a document of historical record - along with a slight tendency to base each chapter (especially the earlier ones) on one particular scholar's work.
