Itsy little nagging things that shouldn't matter but make me cringe . . .

Is it just me, or are the words "yea," "yeah," and "yay" not two or three separate things? I know that in the long run it doesn't really matter, but sometimes it irks me when they get confused. Also, "ahhhh" and "awwwww" have entirely different connotations

Yes, yes, yes. And where I see it the most is not necessarily the Writing Center, but IM and Facebook where most people don't even try. And, ok, I'm a bit of a grammar snob, but - different meanings.
