Drum corps weirdness.

Pat was talking to his dad last night, and his dad mentioned that DCI is in the middle of some changes. I feel like DCI is going towards a money-grubbing, don't care about anything except being huge and powerful type organization. And it makes me kind of depressed ( Read more... )

It has been a long time since divisional standing was based mostly on how well a corps scores. When Cascades made the jump from II to I, they had to get approved by DCI, and they were one of the last groups who had an "easy" division change ( ... )

ARI! See, you are all-knowing, and I feel better now. I didn't realize that corps had to get approved by DCI anyways to make the jump (for some reason I just thought whoever won Division II or III automatically had the option of jumping up a division the next year...and when I sit and really think about it, it would make sense for them to have to get approved).

It makes me glad to know that the open class thing is them trying to SAVE corps in lower divisions...for some reason the vibe I got from the website was completely the opposite and I was worried about corps falling through the cracks. It's good to hear that most directors are happy about the change. I think for me, I'm just so used to it being the way it is, that the thought of change makes me sad. =) I'm such a dork.
