AO3, netflix, and big bang blabber

Apr 17, 2011 10:59

Jumping on the bandwagon to say that I now have an AO3 account.  It feels like a huge step, like I'm wearing Big Girl Pants now.

Netflix Watch Instantly might be the death of me.  I've seen some really good films that I otherwise wouldn't spend the time or money to watch, but it also enables me to watch Season 3 of Heroes whenever I want, which ( Read more... )

what do you mean this isn't about pinto , i don't have a tag for this, beaning, random thoughts

BIGBANGBIGBANGBIGBANGBIGBAAAAAAAAAAAANG!!!!!!!!

actually i'm still debating it myself...but you can probably guess which way i'm leaning ;-) the problem is i have nothing started - last year i had 8k words of the fic that i ended up using...and it was still hard to finish...but i'm still thinking of doing it even if i have to start from scratch - and you're right, that deadline really helps!! As for ideas being "done before", pfft - if you want to write it, write it. Two people can take the exact same idea and do completely different things with it. If it's coming from your mind, it will be awesome and people will want to read it :-D (PLUS OMG BABIES YAAAAAAAAY!)

On a completely different note, if you're on a documentary kick, you should watch Beer Wars. It's about microbrews vs. the "big three [actually two]". Dan and I enjoyed it, but we are beer snobs and like to drink, so YMMV ;-)

LOL! YOU SHOULD DO IT TOO!! :D SO EXCITED ABOUT YOUR BIG BANG!!!

Yeah, I'm worried that I might fall short of the word count and then be like OH NOOO and be forced to write a really details diaper changing scene. Or... a detailed different kind of scene. (AND YEAH, OMG BABIES!!! YOUR ICON!!)

I'll check and see if Beer Wars is available on watch instantly! It probably is since the only thing it has is tons of documentaries. (And XI, which I've watched 3 times even though I own the DVDs. There's something very comforting about having it on in the background as I do chores around the apt, IDK.)

I know this is a delayed response, but I had to say - i love that you're so excited about a fic which does not exist even in my mind yet... :-D But yeah, I totally know what you mean about the word count...I guess the best thing is just to make sure you have enough possible plot elements to get you through...although I often seem to end up with more words than I would have expected...of course, there's always the option of writing more words of porn... :-D

Hehehe, I would get excited about anything you write, bb. You're one of the few people who could get me to read something outside of Pinto or K/S. Not that you should stop writing Pinto!!

Yeah, I do tend to end up with more words than I intend, but still, I'm kind of nervous about doing a big bang. And making it good. And getting a real beta!

How's your new house?!? :D

Yay AO3! I love that I can easily download my favourite fics from there.

I wish we had something like Netflix over here. All of those documentaries seem really interesting! (although if I had Netflix, I would probably be glued to my laptop screen 24/7. Oh wait, that's happened already XD)

I think you should sign up for the Big Bang! Yay for long fics! I can't remember reading a lot of 'Pinto with an infant' fics before, certainly not any long ones, and lots of amazing stories have grown out of an idea or a premise that's been done before. It's the spin you put on it that makes it new and fresh and I am very confident that you would be able to write a fantastic story that will be different from the stories that are already out there.

It's really really addicting to have the watch instantly plan! I'm resisting all the TV shows that are available cause I get sucked in so easily and the next thing I know, it'll be like the six weeks I spent doing nothing else besides watching the West Wing.

Hehe, I'm leaning toward signing up right now! I'm hoping that the idea I have is different enough that people would be willing to give it a try, but I also think a lot of people would be like, what? another Pinto kid!fic?! So, we'll see!

I love documentaries, so thank you for the recs - I already have very strong feelings about the vaccine issue, so most likely will give the first one a miss or I'll start slapping the screen when certain views are aired...

Yeah, I'm kind of reluctant to watch certain documentaries if they're on topics that I have strong opinions about, too. It's like I'm setting myself up to get annoyed!

But there's definitely nothing offensive about the Pixar one, especially if you like watching creative people be creative! :D
