I hope parts of this story make it to the 3rd ST reboot movie, if not all of it. I think it makes sense to have a story that checks up on how New Vulcan is doing, even for just a bit, and also touch on the death of Kirk's father, given that it seems to have influenced his command style. (His sacrifice in the 2nd movie just reminded us of George Kirk's in the 1st movie.)
