Okay, so my surgery is rescheduled for the 16th of February, which is three weeks from today. Apparently, despite what the (apparently ignorant) doctor told me over the weekend (When I couldn't get ahold of anybody else because that's when the medical profession is CLOSED), I could've gotten the surgery even while I'm sick, so long as I don't have ( Read more... )

Not being able to undergo surgery because of a head cold did sound a little off, but this way you get a little while to build up your strength, to the extent that's possible (sleeping a lot, getting vitamins, etc.). And maybe you can get a second opinion from someone who's a little more optimistic than 50%...

Did anyone ever mention less major kinds of surgery you could try, like laparoscopic surgery (with tiny cameras and shit, and usually recovery time is way faster)? Because I'm sure you'd rather go with a less invasive procedure if it essentially does the same thing.

That's true! It's wise getting a second opinion anyway, and if it gives you peace of mind allll the more reason to do it! But maybe other people have a 50% success rate because they hadn't tried all the many many MANY things you've tried before?
