There was a groundhog that had lived in our yard for about ten years. Every summer, she would burrow underneath our porch and give birth to baby groundhogs that would play underneath our kitchen window

We had a very similar situation with a bunny. Every year this bunny would come and dig her little bunny hole in the back yard and have her little baby bunnies, but one year my dog ate the little baby bunnies and she never came back. Then this year my dog died. And now the bunnies are back. So it's the opposite, I guess.

My dog found the bunny nest in our backyard this year but my mom shooed him away and covered up the nest again and watched my dog very carefully to make sure he didn't eat them. Then the bunnies grew up and ate all my mom's flowers and act like they own the place. My mom is like "This is the thanks I get for saving their lives?!"

I am sorry about your dog.
