how do employers get away with discriminating against tattoos?

it's a permanent physical condition, and discrimination is discrimination.

i want to be a lawyer and sue the hell out of corporate America.

Not to be an ass but I completely disagree. It's something you do to your body. It is known that it is not widely accepted before you get it.
But knowing you I know you will completely disagree.

disabilities are often something you've done to your body.

i'm not saying it should be accepted, just that it shouldn't be discriminated against.

P.S.

i actually think an employer should be able to hire and fire as they see fit... based on abilities, race, gender, appearance, etc... and should suffer the consequences of doing so.

that not being the case in this country at the moment, however, i don't think body modification is any more valid a reason for discrimination than any other.
