Salt Lake City

You can see my pictures here, and read about my adventure behind the cut.

Wednesday morning luna and I a 6:55 am flight to phoenix, then a connecting flight in increasingly smaller planes. We landed in salt lake around 10:30 11 o'clock and tried to get a hold of her friend to pick us up and take us around town. We didn't find out till later in the day, but he was working.

After about 20 minutes of sitting around, we just said fuck it and grabbed a cab to the venue. We set up our plot on a grassy knoll in a little park next to the venue. We killed time, reading, napping, rolling down the hill. After getting bored, we walked around a bit, finding bathrooms and food.

Finally at about 3 we found a bathroom and changed in to the clothes for the show, which in it's self was amazing since luna was wearing a prom dress. When arriving back at the venue we tried to figure out what to do with our luggage since we were still carrying it around. Luckily they actually had bag check at the venue, and didn't even search them.

While waiting around for the venue to open steve had come outside to chat with some of the crew loitering outside the venue, i took this as my opportunity to harass steve for eating all the cupcakes i gave him for the band in long beach, although he still denies it. WE all chatted for a while about how the cupcakes were supposed to kill him, and what would be the best way of killing him while keeping him intact, among other things, until he was called down for dinner.
And we lined up to get in.

The new band on the tour, the A.K.A.s were surprisingly good, and where very nice to boot, the singer even let me trade my cupcake button for his well worn dove button.

Suicide cities set was fucked up on so many levels, with Billy's guitar not working have the show, and falling on his ass after the monitors slid out from under his foot, the 6 inches oh room between the drum kit and the edge of the stage, and just the general craziness, but they still put on a great show.

Through out the whole show the audience had amazing energy, so much more excited than what I usually see in LA, and I wasn't being crushed to death, so I already knew this was going to be a good show.

the set had started out pretty normal, the slc kids really getting in to it, and luna and I harassing steve. That was all until bring the pain. Jimmy did his usual thing of setting up the ghetto blaster on the crate and started the music. Maybe 10 people were singing along, otherwise, totally silent. You could see him getting more and more annoyed as the song went on. Finally he stood on top of the crate, reached under his skirt, in his undies and pulled out his peener. He adjusted a little, and the proceeded to pee on the ghetto blast, al the while it still played on. I was cracking up so hard I could barely stand. From that point on, the rest of the audience was pretty much in shock.

They rest of the show went on pretty normal, with steve being unable to put his pants back on correctly. After the last song, jimmy shoved the microphone in to the back of his pants and stood there while luna, handed steve her cane. He hobbled over to jimmy, examined his ass, then sang to the background music playing over the pa, in to jimmy's ass.

After the show we kept kitty company for a while, and tried to get it in to peoples heads that her job is not keeping track of steve. I got some lovin from jen, after giving her my peanut butter butter cream recipe she was dying for, and I got a thank you from steve for giving him something to do between songs. Later on Lyn-z and Karl had a sharpie fight which led to her wrestling Karl to the ground and pinning him.

Realizing, after getting food after the show, that we would have to be up in 3 hours to get to the airport for a flight home, we just hauled ourselves back to the airport and slept on the ground for a few hours, and made friends with 24 year old ex-mormon farmers from mississippi.

This show ranks up there with the first msi show I ever went to and the sleep over. The next time they tour I really want to go back to slc.
