[OOC] Personal Reference
Hitsugaya Toushirou was born in a middle-class family. His mother taught Latin, and his father owned a struggling electronics store, which was pulling the family into debt as each year went by.
A majority of the people in Toushirou's neighborhood were older couples. As a restult, there were very few kids in his area while he was growing up. His closest friend was Hinamori Momo, even though she was four years older than him. He's still not sure why she put up with him and his sarcastic attitude, but she even ended up giving him a nickname, much to his chargrin. After she entered high school, they drifted apart, and ultimately lost contact when she left for college.
When Toushirou was sixteen, his parents were shot by someone who robbed the store while his mother was helping his father close up. His parents' bodies were found the next morning, after Toushirou called the police and reported that his parents never came home the night before.
After the funeral, Toushirou was almost turned over as a ward of the state, but Matsumoto Rangiku, a former student and close friend of his mother, managed to gain custody of him [The "how" and "why" would be worked out with Rangiku!player]. His father's electronic store, along with his parents' house, was sold to pay off their debt, leaving Toushirou entirely dependent upon Rangiku. He moved in with her in her apartment at 311 Lysgar St, and has been there for the last year and some-odd months.
Toushirou has just entered his senior year in high school, where he earns good grades (not the best, but he's ranked in the top twenty so far). His major concerns in life are passing the State Welfare inspection (occurs every two months, and is extremely stressful, considering the dump of an apartment they live in) and just general concern about Rangiku and Momo. He doesn't often show his concern for them, and when he does, they usually brush it off, much to his annoyance.
