 Chapter I

The smell is ticklish, but it tastes wonderful. It’s like the fresh cut grass and strong musk. And he loves it, so spicy and yet so calming. And the scene is just so wonderful, the moon is singing its best melody ever and now it excites him to the core, making him want to groan out with pleasure. Tonight is a full moon of the month, and he has already transformed, the feeling of walking on four feet again is just so thrilling, and it gives him shivers down his spine from time to time. Yeah, he is shivering. It’s not like he is cold or anything, as if he can feel the cold, he is exhilarating to feel the true freedom, sharp reflex and endless power. He feels like he is the leader of leaders, the king of kings. Maybe because he truly is king after all.

“You shouldn’t doze off like that, you know. Having the entire pack to protect isn’t that light of a job.” - a little chirpy orange ball of fur bouncing, approaching him from behind.

“Easy, pup, why are you here? Where are your brothers? You should stay with them.” - he snorts through his nose, amusingly.

“Ah~ for the million times already, I’m definitely NOT a puppy anymore, so stop calling me like that. And since I’m mature now I think I should go with you on your usual patrol” - the orange fur says excitedly.

“Well, maybe you are not small anymore, but to me, you are more like a preteen than an adult, besides patrol is only for the alphas and their “right foot” guys, you are too young for both of those position” - he shrugs.

“But…”

“No buts, now, go back to your brothers in the north cave. Wait for me there, I’ll be back in a minute!” - he glows, knowing the little pup will back off.

“Urr… yes, yes, my alpha.” - then the orange fur, after hearing his voice in a stern way, the way that his dad used to use when he talk of something important, rolls its eyes and turns around to leave.

“Umn… youngster.” - he chuckles.

Actually, he isn’t an alpha yet, yeah, it’s right that his dad and granddad and grand-granddad is an alpha, but it’s doesn’t mean that he has to be one too. But his people, umm, his fellows to be exact, just insist that he will eventually become another one. That’s rather annoying though. He just doesn’t like the feeling of being a too important person. Anyways, work is work, and now, being a fully mature being, he has to come to his inheritance, which means he is preparing to be the next alpha of the pack, just like his family has always done.

The first thing that he must learn to become a dutiful alpha is to know how to protect his pack. That’s never been an easy job, ever. But with a little help of the elders, he finally can manage the basics. He needs to take the patrol every morning, noon and midnight, especially in moonless nights, that’s when his kind is weakest, without the transformation into the reflexive body or the sharp senses, and such. And then he has to make sure that every pups and cups stay in line, save and sound. The work of finding the source of food is tiring too, but luckily he only has to worry about it three times a month while their bodies take the transformation. What a relief!

The second thing and the most important thing now is that he must take care of the war himself. The WAR! What can be more hateful than that, all he has ever wanted is a peaceful life with his pack. And what does he get? An execution of death. Bravo!

Bitter, life is bitter, but he loves it anyway, because it is his life, and if he wants to change it, he has his own right to do so. That’s why he accepted the duty to be the next alpha. He is going to change things around here. There will be no more war and strict rule, his entire pack will live their happy like that they are deserve to have. He promises that to himself.

Come to think of it, walking along the side of the lake in the middle of the night while full moon is shinning bright bathing everything beneath it in the glorious light is not the bad idea at all, maybe he has fallen in love with that sight already. How droll it is! He is taking his last leap before going back to the campfire where his entire pack is waiting together with the elders and the females, the males and the pups that a strange smell makes it way to his nose. It’s not exactly a dangerous one, well; it’s not like any smell of other animals or human or magical creatures that he has known. It’s different, and it’s ticklish. For a moment he doesn’t know why he is feeling so. But suddenly, a flash of power washes over him, making every single hair through his spine and tail stand up in cautious. An unknown source of fear invades his mind controlling his emotion. This creature is too strong, with all that power and will, he can never defeat it. Panic fills his veins and travel through his limply body, suddenly, he feels so helpless and scared. It’s like he is being five again, not knowing anything to do, cannot capable of running let alone saving the feature of his mother falling right in front of his own eyes, silent and dead. He whimpers and shakes violently, but then, another feeling takes control of his mind. He remembers the reason why he wants to be an alpha, why he has tried so hard and still trying. He remembers the last words mother told him, to be strong as lions and hard as rocks, becoming the next alpha, he will make this world change, he will stop the war and let the people live in peace. He will definitely fulfill his mother and his own wish.

He is scared, but now, he is also certain that he will fight. Whatever the creature is, it will not touch his pack without a fight, he will make sure of that with his own life.

He roars and makes his own way to the source of power that he has felt earlier. He needs to keep this creature away from the pack. While running by own his mind and his body, he tries to connect with the old beta and his father. The same blood flows in their veins make it pretty easy to link their thought; it’s kind of like the sixth sense for them.

“Pap, uncle, I has located a strange source of power, I don’t know what kind of power it is yet, but I’m sure that whatever it is, this is not a magical creature.”

“Show me where you are.” - his father, the present alpha replies shortly but urgently.

He concentrates on the road, trying not to pump into any stump lay across the way, while at the same time sending the image of the part of the forest that he has been running through. It’s a little hard because he has just been practicing using the link for about two months, but he manages, somehow.

“I see, you are at the Southside of the forest, we are at the North. Now, you are going to distract the creature as farther from our pack as possible. Keep it there, and wait for my assistance. Don’t try to do anything stupid, got it?”

“But, pap… “ - he protests, he hates it when he cannot do anything, he feels so useless.

“No buts, son, I cannot bear to lose you too, your mother…” - his voice saddens.

“I…understand father.” - he answers, also feel the melancholy fills in his father heart. Sometimes having the same link is just not so good after all. It makes his heart wrenches.

He cuts off the connection and heads to the source of energy, it’s too strong and all most knock him back, he is still able to go through it, with a little daze.

“Hello stranger.” - a soft voice echoing the entire space. He stops abruptly at the edge of a clear lake. The moon shine brightly above, reflecting itself in the water of the lake, still he cannot find where the one that has just spoken is. At least now, he is sure of one thing that the creature can communicate through minds!

“What are you? Show yourself!” - he snarls, in his mind of course.

“I am a friend, and I am standing right here…” - the voice gently answers back and suddenly he felt a safe impression washes through him. He frowns.

“Where?”

“Right behind you…”

The breath hitches in his throat, making him froze right on the spot. This is bad; he just doesn’t like the idea of being attacked from behind any bit. But somehow, on the contrary, he feels safe. It’s getting really weird.

“Don’t worry, I mean no harm.” - the creature move slowly to the front, into the clear moonlight.

That creature turns out to be a human. Well at least that person has a human appearance, but now, with the range of power giving out from him; he is not sure what kind of creature is this person anymore. That person has a slight round face and dreaming eyes. It makes him look like he is always in the sleepy state. But overall, that one is kind of handsome and, he has to admit it, this person doesn’t seem to bring with him any harm.

“What are you doing here, there is no place for you here, go back where you come from. You are unwelcome.” - he thought in his mind, knowing that person will hear him well.

“As I say, I mean no harm and I’m here to bring you a message.”

“There’s no need for that little trick, I can see through you. You are one of them, from the war. They killed my mom, now I’ll kill you!” - before he knows what he has said, he prance forward the figure.

But all suddenly and swiftly, a large form of gray fur and sharp teeth presses him hard against the cold ground. He grasps for the breath and nearly loses consciousness from the pressure and the lack of oxygen.

“I’m sorry for my son’s rudeness, may I ask who are you?” - he hears his father voice, though it appears to be gentle, but strict at the same time.

“No it’s my rudeness that I didn’t introduce myself first. I’m Ohno Satoshi, I come here today to bring you a message from my mom, the seer.” - he says quietly, he seems to be a kind person that don’t talk much.

“The seer? Does it concern with the war?” - the huge dark brown fur asks suspiciously.

“Yes, indeed it is.” - Ohno gives out a genuine smile.

“Then do you swear by your blood that everything you’re going to say is the truth?” - the beta asks, hardening his voice to show the seriousness, not forgetting to keep pinning him onto the ground firmly.

“I do” - the seer’s son says, he brings his hands forward and make a sharp move while muttering “Shinjitsu”, a wave of energy washes through them all, together with the single delicate light dancing around Ohno’s hands, he moves his hands towards the alpha and says “If you don’t mind, please hold my hands, we are going to make a vow.”

His father hesitates but eventually gives out one of his front foot, putting it in the palm of Ohno’s hands.

“Thank you” - Ohno says quietly before the light begins to shine brightly, so bright that he has to close his eyes to protect them.

After a moment, the energy subsides, he opens his eyes again to meet with a grinning person known as Ohno Satoshi, he is muttering happily with his father.

“It’s my first time to use the truthful vow, and I believe that it works, thank you for your trust in me.”

“Your welcome” -his father says, totally impressed by the awe source of power he has just adjusted.

“Well then, I shall move on to the main subject right?” - Ohno asks reluctantly.

“Of course you do, I’m giving you my full ears now.”

“Um, thank you very much. As I have said, my mother is a seer. And recently, she has a vision…”

“Well?”

“Well, it happens to involve you and most of all, your son here.”

“M…me?” - he asks, confusedly.

“Yes, you, Sho Sakurai.”

What the hell is that? A vision that involve him? And how the hell does that strange man know his name? And most of all, if his mother is a seer, then what is that person? There is just one thing that he knows for sure now. That person, standing right in front of him now, knows how to use magic!

“I think… I should go on and tell you the prophecy then.” - slowly, the man shifts his eyes, looking straight into Sho’s and began a spell - “Yume de ii kara!”.

Almost immediately, Sho’s mind is clouded with a thick fog, his eyes blink violently to get rid of it, and when the fog finally vanishes, what he sees startles him. He is not standing in the forest like he did a minute ago. Now, he is standing on the hard titled floor in a strange room. In front of him, there is a woman that looks surprisingly similar to that Ohno guy.

‘May be, this his mother…’ - he thought, he tries to speak with the woman. But then before he can proceed to do so, she starts to speak.

“Long time ago, there was a curse

Darkness and light never apart

Once there is light, and here darkness hides

Like a full circle, repeats itself and never dies.

But they just don’t like that, and accept how things are

They try to change it, they’ve gone too far

War happens and people fall

Everything leaves and never recalls.

Till there is a day, five consume it all

Each of the kinds, together they stand tall

May they live? Or may they be destroyed?

There is one thing that needs, helps burning the coal.

Love they will call

That conquers it all.”

Note:

The spell that Ohno uses is

“Shinjitsu” means “Truth”

“Yume de ii kara” means “It’s okay if it’s a dream” (I think >_<)

A/N: hi! Thanks a lot for the reviews in the last chapter ^^! I really appreciate that.

Gosh! It’s hard like hell to write a prophecy, it took me like… forever?!?!?! (that forever means 2 days though ^^#) but I hope that it has turned out well… right?!?!?

Well, since I have realized recently that the game I set off is a bit too hard to do, so I’ll give you all some little hints.

The question is: “if you guys can guess what kind of magical creature they are, well, feel free to request me a couple that you like, I’ll put them in the story nicely^^!”

That is it, in case you don’t remember, and now, I’m gonna give you the hints

#1: one of them is the human.

#2: you should guess something specific like vampires, werewolves, elves, centaur, sphinx… (I am inspired a lot from Harry Potter series and Twilight AND their crossover fan fictions. Lol)

There, hints, right?!?!?

So see you in a few days then, it’s gonna be sooooo soon ^^!

PS: Ah, do you see anything odd from Ohno’s spell?
