i've seen posts in communities that when people comment on that post, the comments go directly to the same post they made in their own journal. how do i do that?

? I always thought when people crossposted, they simply made the post numerous times, simply changing where they post it to (i.e the thing next to the "update" button that says "post to")

If there's some function that allows you to do it all in one shot and its too confused, er..just post it numerous times ;p, copy then paste the content of what your posting.

Hope I interpreted that correctly? o.0

it's a comment thing where the comments don't appear in the community but in an identical post in your journal.

I read that but it doesn't tell me how to make a post in a community, and when people comment, the comments appear in their own journal, on an indentical post.

That's because said feature doesn't exist. At least, according to their own FAQ: http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=199

If there is such a feature, I've never seen it used, and I'd advise asking the person in the community you've seen do it.
