[RL - Aziraphale - tea and a spot of cosmological bother]

[He hadn't been sure if Waywalking would work across universes, but he figured that since he was aiming for an alternate Earth, it had more chance than trying to Waywalk to another planet. So he'd dropped in on Hell for a few minutes, said a hello to Bubble and checked in on things, before turning back to the portal and taking a deep breath, ( Read more... )

[Aziraphale's been having a lot of bad days lately. Bad days, of course, was something of an understatement. It's not every week you find out God's missing and have demonic spiders invade your computer, after all. The last one upset him because it was so very amateur, and the first one upset him because it'd upset anyone. There was a human trick he picked up, sometime around two wars ago. Namely, that nothing fixed things half as well as a cuppa tea, and if that tea were spiked, well, that certainly helped matters along.]

[And, really, he should know better than to meet anonymous strangers he's met in a sentient community. For one, They never covered that one in the Angelic Field Manual, and for two, he has a feeling he could deal with the problem. Possibly by using the tea, but he wasn't afraid to get creative if he had to.]

[Well, that's what he thought, anyway, until he felt the Aura. Pure evil, like a lawyer or politician or televangelist. Only concentrated into one tiny point as if there were an earth-sized funnel involved. And ( ... )

[At about the same time Aziraphale picked up on Sam's aura, Sam picked up on Aziraphale's - something most definitely, most undeniably angelic. He'd know that sort of signature anywhere, although it's not quite the same as the one he's used to. For a start, there's no sign of his brother having had any influence on it. But still 100% angelic. In an instant, all his senses are alert and he's cursing himself for a fool - you should have been more careful than this, Sam!

But the angel - because it must be an angel - hasn't started preaching at him or trying to smite him yet, as a lot of angels tend to try and do, so that's encouraging. Guardedly, but still with a smile on his face, he looks up, not bothering to confirm or deny anything. After all, they both already know what's going on here now.]

[Cheerfully:] Strange, I'd like to ask you the same thing.

[Aziraphale's not met Lucifer in a very long time. Directly, at least. He doesn't remember him acting that cheerful. Persuasive as hell, oh, definitely, but he'd always had this sort of edge to him. If you talked to him too long, you'd be asked to take a leap of faith. And then that leap'd turn into falling, and we all know what happens next.]

[He'd expect a lecture about now, though. Or a thorough murdering. Or worse than murdering. There's a brief surge of something that could be panic in the wrong lighting. But he squashes it quickly. If he dies, well, he'd probably be given a new body quickly enough for Death In The Face Of the Adversary. And if he doesn't die, well, that'd be proof that God's not so missing after all.]

[Besides, it's not every day you met someone who had opinions on feeding ducks.]

[He doesn't sound entirely like he means this:] In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. And me, I suppose. [Almost like he's joking.]

[In his heart, Sam can't quite bring himself to blame the angel for being so wary. After all, the smear campaign his brothers and sisters started against him was pretty extensive. And besides, he has to remember that this is an alternate universe. Maybe the Lucifer, Satan, whatever, here isn't quite such an agreeable chap as Sam is most of the time. Closer to what the stories say than what Sam's reality is. It's a bit of an unsettling thought, but then the idea of another universe with another Time and another Jehovah and another everyone wandering around in it isn't very attractive either.

He's still scratching the cat's ears as he replies, still with a vague smile and a raised eyebrow.] Well, as explanations for "all this" go, that's fairly to the point. If a little bit on the inaccurate side on my end of things, but I'm open to the idea of different universes having different origins.

[Nice that they aren't fighting yet, he thinks vaguely. And a pity that it probably won't last too long.]
