Something that just happened made me start to really ponder. My boyfriend is slightly more Buddhist than you were in high school. I posed the same questions to him, except I was a little bit more confrontational about how Buddhism seemed to me to be anti-romantic love bacause it was anti-attachment. I don't know that he had a satisfactory answer. It's good to know that other people are thinking about these things.

i don't understand how one can have love and no attachment - it doesn't seem possible to me. and you know what? it's OKAY to feel attached, especially to a companion animal, because they're more loyal than most people could ever be! besides, it's a wonderful feeling - why shun it? just because it's scary? we all get attached, maybe this is just your first time. it IS scary, but it's also rewarding as fuck, which makes it worthwhile.
