Summary: It’s Eunhyuk’s birthday and Donghae makes it really special.
~
"Hey Donghae. Did you hear that the Seoul Dance Competition is going to be on my birthday this year?"
"Yeah. Too bad that we both have schedules…again." Donghae sighed and plopped down on the couch next to Eunhyuk. "Why do we always have schedules on the day of the SDC?"
"I don’t know. It’s also sad that I have schedules on my birthday."
"Which means we can’t spend your birthday together either." Both sighed and leaned against each other and turned on the TV. "You know what would be cool? If we could create a dance sub-group and actually compete in the SDC." Donghae suggested after a while.
"We already kind of have one. You, Hangeng, Shindong, and me are already the dancers in Suju. And we can always add Teukie and Sungmin in."
"Hey! What about me? Can’t I be in the dance sub-group?" Kyuhyun asked, poking his head out of his room.
"If you join the dance group then you can’t be in KRY." Yesung said walking out from behind Kyuhyun. "And you know that if you’re not in KRY, it would just be Wookie and I and well I think Yewook would be out more and we would have our own concert." Yesung teased as he walked into the kitchen.
"What? No, that can’t happen. What about Kyusung?" Kyuhyun complained and followed the older. Both Eunhyuk and Donghae were laughing on the couch and trying to stay quiet and hear Kyuhyun’s complaints about Yewook getting the spotlight.
The following days, both had a super packed schedule and when they weren’t, Donghae was gone with their manager. Eunhyuk was disappointed that the only both Donghae and he were home, Donghae was always talking with manager hyung. He was beginning to feel a little lonely without his best friend. Donghae finally joined Eunhyuk for some evening TV the day before Eunhyuk’s birthday.
"Hey, what’s up?"
"Nothing. Where have you been?"
"Huh?"
"You haven’t been around lately."
"Oh, I’ve been working with manager hyung for a few things. Sorry I didn’t realize how much time it was taking up."
"What we’re you working on?"
"Oh, you’ll find out." Eunhyuk raised his eyebrow at the other who just grinned back at him.
"What time are you going to be home tomorrow?"
"Not sure, kind of late I think. But we’ll definitely celebrate your birthday with everyone tomorrow night."
"I know. I’m a little tired and have a schedule early tomorrow, good night."
"Uh, night Hyukie." Donghae said a little shocked at Eunhyuk’s sudden decision to go to bed.
The next day, Eunhyuk woke up to the sun shinning through his curtains. He glanced at the clock and shot up in his bed, shocked. He was supposed to be up three hours earlier to go to the salon before his schedule. The dancer ran around trying to get himself ready when a note on the refrigerator stopped him
'Eunhyuk I cancelled your schedules for today and turned off your alarm clock so you could sleep in some.'
-Manager
p.s. Donghae says to text him when you get up.
His schedules were cancelled and he could actually relax on his birthday. After cooking some breakfast he decided to text Donghae.
To: My Fishy
Morning. What’s up?
To: My Monkey
good morning. Happy birthday ^^ My first schedule is ending soon so I'll stop by the house in about an hour. Be ready to go when I get there. I have a surprise for you. ^^
To: My Fishy
A surprise? What is it?
Eunhyuk waited but never got a text back from the younger. He sighed but decided to get ready anyways, so that he wouldn’t make Donghae late to his next schedule. The dancer was on his laptop when Donghae entered the dorm.
"Hyukie! Are you here?"
"Yeah, in the living room."
"Ah, here you are. You ready to go?"
"Don’t you have another schedule?"
"Maybe." He said as he stuck out his tongue at the older. "Just come with me. You’ll like it. I promise."
"Alright." He sighed, shutting of his computer and grabbing his coat. Donghae took him downstairs to his car and telling Eunhyuk to get in. "We’re taking your car?"
"Yeah, why not?"
"I don’t know." Eunhyuk shrugged but got in. A few minutes into the drive Donghae pulled out a blindfold and handed it to the other. "What?"
"Put it on. I want it to be a surprise and if you see where we’re going you’ll figure it out." Donghae pouted, taking quick glances over at Eunhyuk.
"Fine." He grabbed the blindfold and put it on. Donghae waved his hand in front of his eyes to make sure that he couldn’t see. Satisfied, he focused on getting to their destination as quickly as he could.
"We’re here, but don’t take off your blindfold yet." Donghae got out of the car and walked around to Eunhyuk’s side and carefully got him out, making sure he didn’t move the blindfold or hurt the older. Eunhyuk let the younger lead him around what seemed to be a large crowd, until Donghae stopped. "Sit here. I’ll be right back."
"What? Donghae, where are you going?" Eunhyuk asked after Donghae made him sit down in a chair.
"Just stay. And don’t take off the blindfold." Eunhyuk sat back in the chair and just waited for the other to return and for some reason unknown to him, he left the blindfold on like Donghae asked. "I’m back." Donghae said about ten minutes later when he took a seat next to Eunhyuk.
"Can I take this off yet?" He asked pointing to the blindfold.
"Almost."
"Why not?"
"Cause you can’t take it off until it’s time. Trust me." Eunhyuk huffed and crossed his arms, listening to Donghae ramble on about something. "Okay you can take it off now." He said as soon as the lights went off. Eunhyuk quickly took off the blindfold, disappointed to find darkness all around him still.
"Where are we?" Just then music started and some laser lights started to move around the arena. "Are we where I think we are?" A few dancers appeared on the stage as more lights turned on and Eunhyuk became to mesmerized to question Donghae anymore. Towards the end of the performance, Eunhyuk looked over to Donghae, only to find the younger missing. He turned his attention to the stage once more when a familiar voice was heard through the speakers.
"Helllloooooo, and welcome to the Seoul Dance Competition!" Donghae shouted from the stage and the crowd screamed. Eunhyuk would’ve screamed too if he wasn’t too shocked by Donghae being the emcee. Eunhyuk just sat there in the front row as Donghae went over the competition rules and introduced some of the teams and the judges. When he was done, he went back to his seat next to Eunhyuk and flipped his mic off. "So…happy?"
"More like shocked. How did you? And why are you? When? How? Why didn’t you tell me?"
"Well they just kind of asked manager hyung if I wanted to emcee and I agreed. About two weeks ago. How what? And well when you brought up the competition I remembered that I was emceeing for it and was planning with manager hyung to clear your schedule and get you here."
"I think you answered the how. And why didn’t you tell me that you were emceeing in the first place when you were first asked to?"
"I didn’t have the chance since we were still debating it and once we decided, I had already decided to make it a birthday surprise. Now watch, you’re here finally." Donghae finished explain and forced Eunhyuk’s attention back to the competitors. Donghae sat with Eunhyuk the entire time, one needing to introduce the next group or make a couple comments, but he did all of that from his seat. After the last team went, Donghae hopped back onto the stage. "Ah, all those groups were great, weren’t they? Well as we wait for the judges to make their decisions, I have a special announcement to make. As many of you know Eunhyuk and I are best friends and members of Super Junior. Well today is his birthday and I brought him here to celebrate, since this is the one place we have always wanted to go to. SO everyone wish him happy birthday."
"What are you doing?" Eunhyuk attempted to ask but was blocked by the shouts of happy birthday from the crowd.
"Well aside from that, I have something I would really like to say to him. Eunhyuk, you and I have been friends for a long time now and well that’s not good enough anymore. I don’t want to be your best friend, I want to be your boyfriend." There was a mix of awes, gasps, and screams from the crowd. "I’m waiting for an answer. Don’t leave me hanging in front of this audience."
"I…I don’t know what to say."
"Say yes!" A voice shouted from somewhere in the crowd, which got a lot of cheers.
"Uh….yes…?"
"Is that a real yes?"
"Yes, it is." He said with just a little more confidence. The crowd cheered at Eunhyuk’s acceptance to Donghae and they started chanting for the two to kiss.
"Nah, we’ll wait until we get home, or well at least out of public site for that. Besides, the judges are saying they are ready to announce the winner." Donghae explained and grabbed the results from the judges. Donghae brought out all the teams and announced the top three teams. Once over, Donghae met up with Eunhyuk backstage.
"Why did you do that?" Eunhyuk said once he saw the other.
"Because I wanted to confess to you and make it really special."
"Ever thought of a dinner or something private? Did you really need to do a public confession?"
"Yup." Donghae grinned and pulled Eunhyuk closer to him. "Well now that we’re boyfriends, I have full right to do this." Donghae lifted Eunhyuk’s chin up and kissed him. "Alright lets go home, we have a party waiting for you, birthday boy."
