Summary: Heechul and Hangeng decide to go out on a date but an unexpected visitor changes the course of their date.
~
"You know, we’ve haven’t been on a date in awhile." Heechul said randomly one day while resting his head on Hangeng’s lap as they were stretched out on the couch.
"It’s still early, we could go somewhere for a date today. Want to go to the zoo?"
"No, we went to the zoo last time. We could go to the science center. They opened it last year and it has a planetarium too."
"What science center?"
"It’s a place they opened up for students and families. They have lots of fun experiments you can try and I think it would be interesting to go see."
"Alright, why not. Go get ready. We’ll leave as soon as you want." Hangeng said. Heechul rolled off the couch and headed to their room to change and fix his hair. Hangeng, who was already mostly ready to go, just waited for the older on the couch.
"I’m ready." Heechul said a little later as he ran back into the room and grabbed the Chinese boy’s hand to pull him up. Just a couple minutes later, the two were walking down the street to the bus stop. They found a spot at the back of the bus to sit together. Heechul pulled out his mp3 player and put one ear bud in Hangeng’s ear and the other in his own. Once Hangeng had fixed the headphone, Heechul pushed in closer and wrapped their arms together and linked their fingers until they arrived at their stop. Hangeng paid for their entrance into the center and Heechul studied the map of the building they were given, deciding the best path to take. "We should go this way first. We’ll be able to move through everything easier."
"Fine by me, lead the way." Heechul grabbed Hangeng’s hand and pulled him off in the direction he pointed and to the first exhibit. Hangeng laughed as he watched Heechul try different experiments and both found they were learning some new things.
"Hey help me try this." Heechul said as he sat down at a machine to test eye vision.
"Make sure you keeps your eyes forward. No cheating."
"I won’t."
"Okay. Tell me when you can’t see the poles anymore." Hangeng said and took the two sticks that were right in front of Heechul and moved them around to each side of his head.
"Okay…stop." Heechul finally said as the poles were almost in line with his ears. "Wow, my vision is pretty wide." The older said once he stepped back and saw the results.
"No wonder I can’t hide much from you." Hangeng laughed as the other just smirked at him.
"Maybe it is." Just as they moved on to the next spot, after Hangeng tested his eyesight, someone stopped them.
"Hangeng? It is you. How have you been? I think it’s been almost three years since we last met."
"Hongki. Yeah, since we broke up three years ago."
"This is your ex?" Heechul asked as he moved closer to Hangeng, hoping to show the new comer that Hangeng was his now.
"Yeah, my last boyfriend before I met you."
"It’s nice to meet you, I’m Hongki. And you?" He asked and held out a hand for Heechul to shake. Heechul cautiously shook the hand and introduced himself. After that Hongki had managed to invite himself along on their date. They continued on through the center spending just enough time at each exhibit, trying out all the buttons on the earthquake simulator, playing around in the uneven house, and even a machine to test force as Heechul tried to pull the string to send the tennis into the air. Once Heechul managed to hit the ceiling with the tennis ball, they decided to break for food. "I can see why Hangeng likes you Heechul."
"Uh, thanks." Heechul had been very quiet since Hongki showed up and attached to Hangeng more then usual.
"Oh, our order is up, I’ll go get it." Hongki offered when their number was called, leaving the couple alone for the first time since they bumped into him.
"Are you alright?"
"Yeah, it’s just your ex is in the way of our date." Heechul pouted.
"I know, this is one of the reasons I broke up with him. He’s overly clingy and wouldn’t really let me see my other friends and he refused to join because he doesn’t like them."
"Hey you call me clingy."
"Yeah, but you’re a different kind of clingy. Just clingy enough that I know I won’t lose you but relax enough to let me go drinking with some friends when you don’t want to join and trusting that I won’t leave you."
"But what if I get worse and end up like him."
"You won’t." Hangeng reassured Heechul with a quick peck on his lips. "Now, is that the only thing bugging you? You seem a little sluggish."
"I’m fine. I think I just need some food."
"Well good cause it’s here and even if we have a third wheel, I want you to enjoy our date." Hongki finally made it back to the table and set down the food and the three each grabbed their orders. They stayed in the café for a little while after they finished eat and Heechul excused himself to the bathroom before they headed back into the exhibits.
"Is he really better then me? I still think you were wrong to break up with me. I’ll take you back any time."
"Yes, he is. And do you really have nothing better then to try and get back together with me after three years, when I’m in a relationship with someone else?"
"I just think I’m right for you and no one else, so why try?"
"I seriously don’t get you. I’m going to go buy a couple bottles of water, feel free to leave." Hangeng walked back to the café to buy a couple waters while Hongki waited in the same spot. Hongki was still alone when Hangeng returned. "Is he still not out yet?" He asked a little worried.
"Oh no, he came out and said he wasn’t feeling well and decided to head home, but said that we could continue to catch up without him."
"I’m not so sure."
"Come on. Your boyfriend is being nice enough to let us reunite after three years, we should take the chance. He said he would be fine and he’ll see you when you get back." Hongki didn’t give time for the older to respond before he dragged him back into the center.
Heechul finally emerged from the bathroom only to find neither Hangeng nor Hongki in the area. He first checked back in the café with no luck. He headed back into the center but it was so full of other people it was hard to spot the two he was looking for. He wandered through, ignoring the exhibits and experiments that he would have liked to try in order to find his boyfriend and his ex. With no luck just moving through the crowd, Heechul found an empty bench and stood on it to look over the crowd. He scanned all parts of the room until a couple of security guards asked him to step down. Heechul went through four more rooms of exhibits before finally spotting them entering the planetarium. He pushed through the crowd in order to catch up as fast as he could. Once he made it to the planetarium, Heechul spotted them from the door but they were standing on the other side. Glass panels for added effect split the room and Heechul was blocked by one as he tried to cross to the other side. Before he moved though, he saw Hongki move to kiss Hangeng. He just stood there and watched, unable to voice in disapproval and cause a scene. Luckily Hangeng was the one who caused a scene by slapping Hongki right before he kissed him.
"WHAT WAS THAT FOR?" Hongki shouted unable to understand Hangeng’s action as he held his bright red cheek.
"You think I’m going to let you kiss me? I have a boyfriend."
"Yeah but it’s not me! I’m the one you should be dating, not that overly feminine boy. I am the only person meant for you. Nobody can take my place. It was a mistake for you to break up with me."
"No, it was a mistake to date you in the first place. I love Heechul and I am not going to let you try and come between us." Hangeng turned to walk away and saw Heechul standing on the other side of the glass. Noticing the older trying to hold back tears and unable to move from his spot, Hangeng rushed around to Heechul’s side and took the smaller boy into his arms. "I’m here. I’m sorry." He whispered softly to comfort the other.
"Why did you leave?" Heechul asked after a while.
"I didn’t want to. Hongki said that you went home while I went to buy some water and then dragged me back into the exhibits."
"I never even thought of leaving. I wasn’t feeling very well, maybe I am a little sick or maybe it was the food, I don’t know."
"Or maybe it was Hongki. I wouldn’t put it past him to try and make you sick so he could separate us. He did lie about you going home."
"I don’t want to blame him immediately. For all we know he could’ve just seen the chance and taken it to get you."
"Either way, it’s his fault. I’m ready to go home and just curl up on the couch."
"Agreed. Just promise me one thing first."
"What?" Hangeng asked and placed a kiss on the top of Heechul’s head.
"Don’t ever let anyone take you away from me again. Especially without my permission."
"Are you getting clingy?"
"No, just over protective. I’m not going to stop you from going to hang out with friends. I’m just saying don’t get kidnapped by an ex."
"Alright, I promise. Now we have a perfectly good couch for cuddling, waiting for us at home. Let’s go." Hangeng gave Heechul another quick peck on the lips before lacing their fingers together and leading Heechul home.
A/N: I've been in a hanchul mood for a few days now and I also needed some cute hanchul and since I wasn't finding too many in my current fanfiction list, I decided to write some to work them out of my head so I can get back to work on the fics I have to finish. This was written in like and hour and a half so not the best but whatever.
