I found a very nice arrangement of the EarthBound song "Smiles and Tears" on youtube, but realized that the lyrics weren't the official lyrics ("I haven't lived half as long as adults have, but I already have a backpack full of memories

In the first line about the wings, そまる means "to be dyed," so I think it would be something more along the lines of "on a moonlitnight, good angels drop snow-white feathers, burying the world, and the night wind is dyed in their color" (but Waka will probably make better sense of it

Actually I understood the "unchanging" bit, but completely forgot to put that in the English! oops.

Ah, ok. I knew omoide was memory, but I only knew "omoi" as "thought" which didn't seem quite right.

I wondered if it was something like that; いいよく was a word I couldn't find a good meaning for though. It came up as "desire" or "will", which didn't really make sense.

The lines get harder to make out as they go on...

what you said just now about iiyoku (which I got wrong; it should be just iyoku--as you had it) made me think I might be misremember the meaning of the word, so I went and looked in my little dictionary, and you're right about desire and will, but then when you add "teki" at the end (...not in the song...) it comes up as "highly motivated" "vigorous"--which is the meaning I guess I was thinking of.

I wonder if it can have that sense without the "teki." Well, Waka will know....

Yikes. As one of the commenters on ニコ動 said, the voice is kind of vocaloid-esque, which makes consonants pretty hard to pick out.

So, thumbs up for a very nice job on the attempted translation, especially since you're doing it by ear only. Asaki's comments combined with what you've already done makes it easier for me -- I'll post what I get in a bit.

Yeah, the words just get harder and harder to make out! It's a bit odd, since it seems to be a person singing. Maybe it's a person who used a voice changer though...
