Actually, I love the idea that those words are removed from our money. "Give Caesar what is due Caesar and God what is due God." this is a nation that was begun on religious freedom, the separation of church and state - they left a country of tyrannical starts that enforced the people to believe one way, one thing or be burned at the stakes for heretics. Our country now has been on a religious movement since the 60s that is frightening to other nations because it is so limiting to the world's view of faith. Faith is individual - not universal. Not everyone calls God, God. I call her Brighid and Dagdha, others call him Allah, others have no name for their Divine Source. It's not a small "g" - it's the proper noun form that is used on money and such. No...this is not a country of One Nation under One God..it is a nation of individuals who fought long and hard for that freedom and I support that 100%. Thanks for posting this!

No problem. I wanted to see what different reactions i would get from this hehe. I myself say "the creator" I do not believe in a so called "god".

I would love it if all references to religion and religious icons were removed from the entire government, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Snopes says that although a few batches of coins were made with that saying accidentally omitted, the dollar coins do in fact have it around the edges of the coin!

I think religion should be separated from the government.

Interesting, well since I live in Canada, the dollar coin isn't exactly a new thing. You guys'll get used to it very quickly... I just don't anything about that whole ordeal with the written inscription.

Hi new friend!

and i havent seen the us dollar yet since I'm in NZ right now. I'll be hoome in nov and december so i'll see it then.

NZ has $1 AND $2 coins.. so it took a while to get used to... but its alright. Sometimes its more convenient but other times not.

As for the religious aspect.. I'm indifferent. I'm not really entitled to have an opinion cuz I"m not hardcore religious, but i'm not NOT religious either. I'm unsure of what I believe and would like to learn more about all kinds of faiths.
