IT HAPPENED!
I gave birth to an 8lbs 3oz baby boy..

After waking every 3 hours on sunday night time, I had gotten very little sleep.. Which was unfortunate due to the fact I had an induction scan and appt scheduled for monday.
Once I managed to drag myself out of bed around 10am I noticed was having very strong period cramp sensations. I went in for a bath to try and ease them off.. Worked slightly. I didn't think to call the triage as it was still a couple of hours until my appt.. The cramping became more intense... Until i felt i was having them every 2-5 mins.. Yet i was still able to walk, talk and generally fuction fine.. Apart from the odd 'oh, ouch' as one came and went. Providing i sat on one of those bouncing balls.
(they are a life saver if you have no access to medical pain relief).
After my scan; i was under the impression due to the measurements of my placenta that id be sent home.. Completely dissmissing my cramping.
i then had an internal at 4pm which resulted in finding out i was 3cm dialted 100% efaced, so the midwife decided to break my waters only to find the wee one had had a bowel movement and unfortunately i couldn't continue with my planned water birth.. Which worried me as i hadnt given any thought to giving birth on a bed.
Within the space of 2 hours i had so rapidly dilated and wanted to push (which the midwife wouldnt allow me to do as she couldnt understand why i had that sensation so quickly), and after another internal check i had gone from 3cm-9cm.
God gas and air was my best friend.. and you get fucked off it with continual deep breaths, (as tom found out when he tried.. Only to get hooked then later caught using by a snooty midwife, while he was in the room alone)
The aneithnatist decided when i was showing how fast i was progressing that was the best time to put in my epidural..
Unfotunately i didnt manage to attain any of the numbness as the wee one became increadibly distressed and had low heart rate. So they gave me forceps dilivery. And cut my prenium (?).
according to tom i screamed the loudest when they used the forceps.. All i remember was the sheer pain of what i thought was the baby's head. Turning to tom in a panic as he asked if i was ok... I'll never forget that feeling.
Baby was then rushed off to the 'baby doctor' as i lay there hazed being stitched.
Slowly it turned out that i was loosing alot of blood. Overall 3 litres to be exact. And was taken into surgery.. The most undignified position ive ever found myself.. Legs spread and strapped in the stirups; arms stretched out at either side various tubes stuck in pumping various liquids in me.
the next few days was spent in high dependancy as they pumped blood back in.

i first saw the wee one on tuesday evening.. Just amazed..so was tom.
Im glad he see the wee one as his son.
ive had the taste of being a mother. I did enjoy it, and my decision if now increadibly hard whether or not to continue with adoption.
For the time being the wee one has been in foster care since friday. And today is the first time since leaving the hospital that im going to see him.
My son; George Thomas Cassells.
(i will post a picture as soon as i can manage to upload them)
