the meeting with the agency went well. though it did upset me to a certain degree finding out the process and in actuality my baby could be in foster care up to 3 months before a panel makes a choice. this I'm going to push and cause as much fuss I can about; to try and have my wee one with its adoptive parents as soon as; preferably beforehand the ( Read more... )

I guess the laws are probably different here or there. Is the foster care because of how far along you are, and they can't find parents soon enough to hand the baby over right after the birth? that's sad. i'm sorry. But again...we know it's the right decision - and yes the baby will be in a temporary place for awhile, but eventually, it'll be exactly where it is supposed to be.

does the agency offer you any sort of counseling before the birth? that's one thing i love about my agency. i talk with the lady there almost every week. i meet with her whenever i want, and she's preparing me for how things are going to be, emotions i might feel, etc. i find that very valuable rather than just being liek "ok, we're doing adoption" and then nothing happenes until after the birth. maybe you should find some books at the library or something. or be thinking about your birth plan/placement ceremony, etc. do you have any say on criteria for the adoptive parents?

apparently that is how its done in the uk; as they believe that no commitment should be made until the baby has been born and it is deffinately what the birth mother wants... the wee one can stay in foster care up until 3months after the birth to let me decide, but i already know what is the best, and want to push for things to move as fast as they can, as i hate the thought of my baby spending christmas alone... or well in care that isnt either me or the adoptive parents... its family.

the agency does offer both myself and tom counseling, im able to phone, email or visit my (i think hes refered to as social worker) any time.

ill put up a post about how the procedure is apprently done in the uk and my thoughts.
