For anyone who went to college:
What was your motivation for going, and how did you keep that motivation to follow through to the end?

I'm still in college, but my motivation is pure ambition. I want a degree, and a masters degree after that, and possibly a doctorate after that. I want to be as knowledgable as possible, and I want to better myself as much as I can to make as much of myself as I am able. I know that I'm smart, but I want to be smarter. I know that I'm capable as a writer, but I want to be better. I know that I'm able to out-perform many of my peers, but I want to do it more and easier.

Pure. Ambition. I am an egotistical son of a bitch, and I want as much ammunition to back up my ego as I can possibly obtain.

I didnt know any other thing. I graduated high school and went to college. I literally went because that is what I had always been told followed high school. :)

In terms of motivation, I wanted out and wanted a real job so bad I had to finish. And gpa matters less than the actual degree. Being able to say BA or BS in something on the resume is huge. NOBODY ever asked what my grades were like. In any job, ever! The key is passing and finishing...unless you are crazy like xach and wanna get other degrees too. Cause only other colleges care about college grades. :)

This is true. Unless you're running for a high profile public office (Governor or President) nobody will ever care about or look into what grades you got in your classes.

ill be the first one to say that i think a lot of the classes are total bs and a waste of my time. ask becca how often i tell her that. but its all the film and photo classes that make me go. im almost done with my GEs which i what i keep telling myself, "after next semester you can take only film and photo class, so dont fuck up." and the film/photo classes are what i love doing, i love making films, or doing photo shoots. and also i want to go into either the film or photo industry so i know that i should pay attention in these classes cause i will learn a good amount (not everything i need to know but enough to get me started). if was in any other major right now i would probably be asking everyone the same question. so i guess figure out what it is you want to do after school, and find the best school that will help you get there.

My motivation for going was that I didn't yet know everything that I wanted to know (I still don't). At the time, what I didn't know and really WANTED to know were the true ins and outs of screenplay writing, so that's the major I enrolled for ( ... )
