Tis was great to catch up after all these years and I had an absolute blast playing Zombies/Beasties/heretics. We're really proud of James for planning it, as he's one of our Yorkites LARP babies and it was fantastic, I think from the players reaction he created the sense of survival horror he wanted. Along with the balance of alot of scared characters and many many close calls but very few deaths.
My vocal cords were somewhat less happy at my enthusiasm at primal roaring for the flmsiest of reasons. I also kinda collapsed for most of sunday afternoon.
As for the system, I'd heard a fairy lukewarm opinion, although a lot of praise for the game as a whole. I generally thought the basics of the system work very well although it has more calls than I'm comfortable with and I understand being a player has a level of complexity I don't have to worry about being a gribbly that likely to die within 5 minutes.
Awesome seeing you and T again after such a long time:) James did a sterling job and you're right about the danger level being high, and player deaths low. As it should be. Death should be a big thing, even in 40k. It's always about the drama and action, not number crunching and head counts. When you need a calculator when a rule, skill or stat is irritating, it's a clear sign something is wrong. Simple machines run smoothest. But as I say, the rules in no way impinged on my enjoyment of the game.
I did notice your voice was going, I think Fi also screamed herself hoarse. Great fun, must do it again sometime...when I get feeling back in my legs;)
I'm actually enjoying small-scale, dip in and out larps. But yes, time is always a factor:( I was really impressed with the people running and playing, and hey, nerf guns!;)
