i saw an equally cool program on the bbc the other night about animals, how they learn, and human applications for learned animal behaviours. the above would be a great example. the one they focused on featured dogs (equipped with extraordinary olfaction abilities not matched in the rest of the animal world) sniffing at urine samples .. they could detect the precursory molecular waste of some bladder cancers up to a year before laboratory measures could. lifesaving in most cases, and totally astounding.
if (when) i go back to school i definitely want to to my masters in animal behaviour/ethology, or a similar discipline!
