Yeah - I too wish there was more ritual around post partum. The media likes to show us celebrities 'bouncing back' after giving birth and it is not only unrealistic but damaging to our psyche - 99% of women don't just 'bounce back' naturally, they push themselves, hire help, some might have plastic surgery, then there's photoshop / lighting / certain angles etc. etc.

Although I haven't experienced giving birth and all that goes with it, I can empathize with that feeling when you look in the mirror. Your body is definitely still sorting things out. It took 9 months to create this new body. I hope you are being gentle and compassionate with yourself and learning to love your body for it's incredible accomplishment - creating new life! Wow.
