Im not a parent (yet) but I would probably relate having a kid to being married, which I am. I would assume that there is no longer a "I" but more of a "we". Basicly whats best for you is not nessicarily what is best for "us". Thats what you constantly need to be thinking, "Is this best for us?" It sucks sometimes because you have to make decisions you dont want to all the time, but such is responsibility. Not to sound like a borg drone here, but when in these kinds of family units one must do what is best for the collective. So you enjoying yourself with a night out may not be all that counts, but as long as your responsibility is not neglected there is no harm no foul.
