Finally

It's been a while. I am currently teaching high school English. I'm happy. It's what I've wanted to do for a long time. Right now I'm teaching World Literature (10th grade). I will teach American Literature (11th grade) next semester. I'm also teaching a Journalism I class. I like my students and I'm happy with my job...even on the days I want to ( Read more... )

That's awesome that you're teaching high school. Christ, it doesn't feel like *that* long ago that we were in 11th grade.

You're right: it doesn't feel like that long ago. We were discussing 9/11 in class on Friday though and my students were in second grade when it happened. That conversation really put things in perspective.

That's wonderful you're a teacher! Sounds like you have quite a workload to handle, too. The students don't realize it, but you probably have to do more homework preparing for class than they do. Usually the 1st year is the hardest... cause once the 2nd year comes, you have all the lesson plans worked out :)

Congrats on teaching!

It's good to know you are doing well, albeit even if you are overworked.

I never was good at prescriptive grammar, why I went into linguistics ;)
