My best friend is in some community plays, and yes, I'm often shocked at the horrible acting of his costars. My best friend is fairly talented, but he hasn't been in a "real" production for years.

something was froze and I couldn't get on LJ to reply till now. I have often said I am not into community theater simply because of it not being professional actors. There is a professional theater in the town I work and I have had season tickets to that for years. The are equity actors and do a good job. In 20 years I have only seen 1 play there that was badly performed and I think it was the play was bad more then the actors. But there is a big demand for the community stuff and relatives pay to see kin perform good or bad. Not me any more.
