Hope you don't mind me asking, but the beach by the village where you camped wouldn't happen to be Bosta beach on the North-West edge of Lewis would it? If so then eeeee pretty beach! But then they're all so pretty...

No, it was the bay down beside the Garenin blackhouse village. But yeah, most of the beaches on Lewis and Harris are gorgeous. We camped at Horgabost on Harris a couple of years ago and that beach is just incredible (the only thing that marred it were the hordes of screaming children that descended on the weekend).

I really need to pull my finger out and do a proper entry about the trip with pictures. I'm so lazy lately.

And, apropos of nothing, I had a peek at your profile and noticed you're fellow St.Andrews survivor. *waves!* You started the year I finished.

I asked as my boyfriend and I went to visit his Granddad's grave - which is just up a bit from Bosta Beach. We also went swimming there. Well, he did. I waded to knee deep in my bikini and scarf and exchanged wary glances with a mink. It had a herring in its' mouth and a look that said it wasn't going to share.

Never got down to Harris though - it's on the list!

Ahh St Andrews. Joyeous place and I miss it but going back is so very strange. It's not the same without the people you know being there.
