I really, really need to block http://www.winter-is-coming.net somehow so I can make sure I stop going there. I keep telling myself not to but every now and then I think, "I'll just have a peek, I want some news and maybe the comments won't be sexist/homophobic asshats today. HA ( Read more... )

Yeah. That Septa Mordane. Silly role. Self-sacrificing is so old hat. Old Nan? Pff. Osha? Whatever.

Or: I am so glad I never go near that site.

Sibel Kekili

Oh!! I had no idea she was in this! I think she's amazing, and I'm happy to say that the porn flicks aren't a huge issue here any more. They were back when she was nominated for her first big "real" acting award, but these days, no is bothered any more. But then again, there are several German actors who did porn, who later became quite famous and successful in the "serious" acting department.

I just love how men can get so self-righteous about women who do/did porn. Obviously, guys doing porn are awesome stallions and epitomes of manliness, always ready to satisfy the wimmins. Whereas women obviously are either whores when they enjoy it, or pathetic when they do it for he money. I love how it's always the women being dirty, and the guys who get their jollies off do just what men do. This failboat needs to be sunk so badly.

I have not seen anything but a trailer of the series, but the fandom sounds like a nasty place. :(

She's only been in a couple of episodes so far but she should have a bigger part in season 2. I'm on the fence with her, not because I think she's a bad actress but just that her characterisation is very different from the novels. But yeah, porn has NOTHING to do with my assessment of her. That crap ice-cream analogy is such a load of, well, crap. Films =/= foodstuffs. You can separate porn from "serious movies," in your mind, you can't separate crap from ice-cream. Fucking rationality, how does that work?

It's a revolting double-standard, it really is. It needs to stop.

LJ fandom is fine but I think that's because LJ (for whatever reason) seems to be predominantly female. Venture outside there and the misogyny and homophobia come out to play. Example: "All fangirls care about is shipping and relationships, they never talk about the serious stuff in this series, it's SO annoying." When there'll be a hundred threads by fanboys with titles like, "WHO WOULD WIN IN A FIGHT, BRONN OR JAIME?" Because that's mature.

She's a very good actress, IMHO, but I wonder how she's going with the language. Let's hope she gets something more substantial. I may start watching this, after all. :)

"WHO WOULD WIN IN A FIGHT, BRONN OR JAIME?" Because that's mature.

That's mature and also very creative. Pish tosh silly fanfic and stupid fanart and icons and other silly things the fangirls do. *huggles old buggy LJ*

I've heard some people complaining about her accent but I have absolutely no trouble making out what she says at all. But yeah, if they follow the books she should have more to do next season.

Poor LJ. I know we don't always get along but please get better. :(

My pet comment of the moment in that thread is the "I'm not sexist, but..." YES, YOU FUCKING ARE.
