I remember these stories on the news in like...the early 90s.
I was terrified when I was a little kid of this sort of thing happening but I liked pools too much to be that terrified :/

I was blissfully unaware of the dangers of swimming pools (beyond drowning) when I was a little kid. I guess ultimately that's a good thing?

my parents used to warn me about pool drains all the time. i still thought they were fascinating and stuck my fingers in them... :(
