#24 [action] - frustration

[morning @ House 44][Koakuma begins her day the same way she usually does: by nearly faceplanting her way out of bed. Once she's awake-or close enough to it-she glances across the room, and her expression immediately goes from tired to sour. Patchouli still isn't back yet, and while she is admittedly-worried, Koa is also angry that she hadn't been ( Read more... )

[ That evening in House #44, Sylvia also happens to be present and lounging about after another day of nonstop training. (It's the one effective method to keep herself distracted from all that's going on, and the most she can contribute for the future by honing her skills.) Nursing a cup of water, she notices the girl -- someone she's seen around but never really have made the effort to talk to. Since the girl looks like she could use a distraction from her own thoughts, perhaps a change is in order. So, Sylvia calls out to her. ]

You've been out all day.

Um...yes, I have. Between working at the library and... [...and things she's trying not to think about too much.] ...yeah.

[ Ah, the library. Since the agenda falls apart there, she focuses on that. ]

So that's what . . . What do you do there? Shelve books?

Mostly, but sometimes I have to help people find things, too.

It's not a very big place, is it?

No matter where you are, a library is always in business. It must be more interesting than I gave it credit to be.

Please excuse any late replies; notifs are borked AGAIN. littlestdevil March 3 2011, 04:57:47 UTC
I've seen bigger ones. Much bigger ones. And yes, people come and go all the time. There are a few regulars, but they don't usually ask for much since they know the place well enough themselves.

Same here, no worries! vanhossen March 4 2011, 00:52:16 UTC
[ Much bigger ones, huh? She has to wonder -- the biggest she can think of is a manor. She nods, mostly to herself. ]

A mansion of books isn't unheard of.

You must've been helping out for a while.

O-oh, yes! I've done this kind of work as long as I can remember. [How long was that again? She hasn't really been keeping track.]

[ That sounds longer than she anticipated, actually. ]

Even back home?

[An affirmative noise.] Even back home. Patchouli and I basically took care of the entire library ourselves back then. [More or less. Sometimes they had a little help...which usually couldn't really be called such.]

[ Ahh. Patchouli. ]

So you're a natural librarian.

[ Sylvia rests a hand on her hip. Patchouli. She hasn't returned yet. Not to Sylvia's knowledge. ]

I haven't seen her in a while.

ITT: Koa jinxes it littlestdevil March 5 2011, 01:23:12 UTC
[That was a subject she'd been trying to avoid thinking about too much by keeping herself occupied...]

She's been...um...busy. I-it probably won't be too long until she's back.

So sad. vanhossen March 5 2011, 05:57:53 UTC
[ She nods and responds in an affirmative tone. At least she has the opportunity to encourage Koakuma to be optimistic, this way. ]

Ah. She'll be back soon, I'm sure.
