character info.
character name: Lang, Cassandra 'Cassie', known as "Stature" whenever she's being heroic.
canon & medium: Young Avengers; Marvel Comics
age & species: 15, or 'comic book teenager age'; superpowered human (ordinary human treated with power-granting chemicals).
appearance: Messy blonde hair usually scooped back in a loose ponytail, blue eyes, a round, friendly face. A tendency towards much-loved T-shirts and old jeans. Cassie dresses for comfort first. She can usually be seen wearing her black domino mask, as well as her red and black Stature costume underneath her normal clothes, as it's the only thing treated to shrink or grow with her.
previous rpg memories: Cassie arrived at the very beginning of the Caravan's journey with her powers malfunctioning (she was stuck at 'tiny' with her growing abilities only allowing her to return to normal size rather than giant-size), and formed a small group of teen heroes with some of her teammates and Jaime, the Blue Beetle. They agreed to help guard the Caravan with Wonder Woman, and Cassie, due to her size, befriended the Minimen. She disappeared from Willaknapp a day into the journey.
timeline: She was originally from immediately post-Siege, but since she's been gone she's been through the beginnings of the Children's Crusade miniseries, and is taken from the teleportation escape from the Avengers with Magneto.
background/history link: Here!

personality: "Jinx, you owe him a coke."

Cassie is generally a cheerful, likeable teenager who somehow manages to fill the role of 'little sister' to her close friends whilst retaining an obvious and implacable temper if pushed too far. Having lived around heroes for the most of her life, she wanted nothing more than to step up and take her father's place in the pantheon, the next best thing to actually being able to fight alongside him. And she achieved it, first as a Young Avenger and then as a Mighty Avenger. Being a hero is her raisen d'etre, and no one and nothing short of a crossover event can persuade or force her to deny that part of herself. Having made a decision, it takes a lot to make her back down from it, and she can have moments of incredible self-assurance that stand out amidst a general persona of loyalty and courage. She isn't anything special in terms of intelligence, but she works hard and learns well, paying attention and applying what she has been taught with great determination.

"What if my dad's still alive?"

On the flip side, she can have her lows. Periods of intense self-doubt or regret make being a size-changer with emotional triggers rather dangerous, as she becomes a literal shrinking violet according to her feelings of guilt or grief - her dad's death deeply affected her, even if she doesn't carry it on her sleeve, and her mother's disapproval of the superhero lifestyle has been the source of most of her inner conflicts during her time as a Young Avenger. These moments fortunately aren't crippling, and she can bounce back with great resiliency even if her negative emotions are easily revealed, due to the help of her friends and her own determination. She can also be pretty darned stubborn, and won't hesitate to back it up with force or words if necessary.

"You're fighting Avengers now!"

If you try to convince her she shouldn't do something because she's a girl, she will throw you into a hedge. In fact, she and Hawkeye III (Kate Bishop) show the highest initiative out of any of the team, and the least regard for intimidation. Her own experiences with the darker side of superheroism have occasionally led her to oppose the Young Avengers, and although doing so caused a great deal of grief and a rift between friends, she will defend those choices and the beliefs behind them vehemently. Due to her training with the Initiative and lifetime of watching heroes at work, she has the highest level of heroic competence in the team after Patriot and Hawkeye and can and will use that to great effect.

She also listens to music like Daughtry and Taylor Swift, and uses emoticons like ^___^ in her official superhero blog. Make of this what you will.

abilities: She can grow and shrink herself to about forty feet and the size of an ant respectively. (Her upper limit is 250 feet, which is frankly ridiculous) She retains some of the strength of her normal size in her smaller one, for reasons unexplained other than 'conservation of mass', and gains superstrength and superdurability when large. Her ability is somewhat more dependent on her emotional state, though. When angry, she will start to threaten the plaster on the ceiling very rapidly, and when upset she is in danger of being eaten by cats. She also has fairly extensive training in self-defense from being kidnapped several times by supervillains during her dad's tenure as an Avenger, and was trained by the Initiative to use her powers effectively and responsibly.

To limit her superpower, she is being pulled into the game world (again) whilst in her tiny form. She'll be stuck at roughly the height of the minimen, with the ability to temporarily grow to something close to her actual size at some cost to her endurance. In extraordinary circumstances, she could manage a burst of growth that would get her to 'giant-size', but it would last minutes at most and knock her out afterwards.

any plans for your character here? She'll probably resume her minimen-helping duties, whilst trying to determine why she's back. Making new friends is also a high priority.

possessions: - her Stature costume, since she needs an outfit that will fit no matter what and she's always wearing it

- a small first-aid kit (in her costume's pouch, able to grow/shrink with her)

samples.

(NOTE: I'm reusing my samples. If that's not okay, let me know and I'll write new ones)

sample journal entry: [voice post, a little louder and higher-pitched than usual, since she's leaning on the button with both hands with her face near the microphone]

Hey, Cassie here. Um, this is going to sound a little stupid, but... Is anyone near the information desk heading back to the towers? I can't get my junogam up the stairs again.

You'd think I'd learn, huh. [her voice gets quieter as she starts to get up, before returning to full volume when she remembers:]

- oh, right! I'm trying to find somewhere to buy minimen clothing. That's possible, right? I never thought I'd say this, but red and black is getting kind of boring.

Thanks! Cassie out.

third-person sample: "Catch!"

Another can rolled into the chute and out into the waiting hands of Kate. The rest of the team looked on doubtfully at their increasing pile of ill-gotten spoils, and even more doubtfully at the diminutive girl on the other side of the vending machine glass, hanging from the second shelf by one hand to free one last coke from the springs. Technically, it was stealing. But even so, they'd just stopped a bank robbery and two muggings on their way back from a day at the mall, so she figured this could be the city's way of paying them back for their services.

Plus the boys were all starting to look a little dehydrated. Cassie didn't know exactly what shapeshifting, superserum or magic did to your hydration levels - her mom would, but she'd never manage to phrase the question in a way that didn't come off as 'hey, mom, I'm still running around as a superhero and there's nothing you can do about it!' - but apparently it hit you harder than archery, because Kate looked absolutely fine.

Was there a special moisturiser superheroes could use?

It was something she could look into, anyway.

"Relax," she called once the final can had been successfully retrieved, "There's no way they can be angrier than our parents will be if they catch us with heatstroke."
