Interest on a book-reading-session?

Hello,

I want to ask if there is interest for a shared book-reading session. Basically we would re-read the first part of Little Wome (and if there is interest also the others) and we would have a discussion for every chapter. You could say what you love, like, hate or what is surprising for you.

Also I personally would love a thing because I could ( Read more... )

book: little women, discussion, read-a-long

What will be the mechanics of this book-reading session?

Basically we would search for a time where many people have time to re-read the book. I would post a discussion post with a comment for every chapter (similar to the discussions post in fandomsecrets) and everybody comment what s/he loves/likes/hates him in chapter 1,2,3... or what was surprising or whatever after they read the chapter. I will post discussions post for every chapter because I know some people read faster or slower than other people.

This session is basically a different kind of book interpretation/discussion where you maybe find out new things about the book. Also it would be fun if everybody read the book in their mother tongute to see if there are differences between the original and the translation.

Dear god! My native language is one that approaches and separates more than half a billion people worldwide...

It would be fun, I just had to agree to myself about which version is better

What is your native language? And why approach and separate?

Often I think translation of the classics in my mother tongue are better because they don't sound so old-fashioned. For example I adore Shakespeare but even I admit it sounds sometimes silly. Lots of new translations give his works a more modern touch which is easier to read.

A read-a-long sounds like fun. I've done that sort of thing in other communities, and always enjoyed it.

Ah so this is the English name for this... I did this in my old book forum and it was fun! So I really hope herare are some other people who want to try such a thing.

At the moment I'm unsure if I should start with Little Women and Good Wives (which are mostly published in one book in Germany) or only open a read-a-long for the first part of Little Women. Hmm.

I think that Little Women and Good Wives are published as one book in most countries. It might be worth starting with part one to see if it generates discussion, then going on to part two or even the sequel books once we see people are joining in.

Yes, I think this would be the best. At the moment I search for a picture of the March children which I could use as a banner...

Cute idea! Might not have time to comment on every chapter, but would definitely at least skim the online texts...its been quite awhile since I've last read...

You don't need to comment on every chapter. Sometimes you only think... yes, the chapter is nice but there isn't something special which you want comment! This is normal! But I would be very happy if you read or comment some chapters. :D

Thanks for your opinion about this topic. :)
