I came to the PRC with a student visa which was cancelled and turned into a full Chinese residence permit by the Dalian university for me. What's my status where Hong Kong is concerned? I'm a non-British alien with a Chinese residence permit - what do I need to get into Hong Kong (even just for a couple of days) and do I need to do something to ( Read more... )

I'm pretty sure you don't need to apply for a visa beforehand when visiting HK since I've done it more than once, and according to this site the residence permit allows multiple-entry. Have fun in Hong Kong.

as far as getting back into China, the residence permit is multiple-entry

I'm not sure what a non-Brit alien is, but it sounds like you won't have a problem getting into HK, they are pretty open with most developed countries.
