Was there any follow-up -- at ALL? E.g., any of the other students talking to you after class or since that day? Further exchange with Awaken Good Things? Or was that, as they say, "it".

Wow. This is great stuff. It has always struck me how subject material that is very sensitive on the official level still somehow manages to be very sensitive on an individual level, too. In my classes, whenever I would bring up a subject that was in any way controversial (and I did this sparingly and with as much tact as I was capable of) I would usually just see a sea of near-teary-eyed faces and looks of gripping fear from my Chinese students. My Korean students, on the other hand, were always curious and wanted to talk more about stuff like censorship, but the Chinese students used to get so terribly emotional about the whole thing that I would have to change the subject as a personal favor to them. As if, somehow, I had struck a deep and intimate chord with them, gone around and insulted everyone's mother individually. I couldn't understand (and maybe this is more telling about my western attitude than anything else) how something so impersonal as state policies could be taken so personally.
