argh!!! i saw a used upright piano going for $150. it actually plays pretty well, as far as i can tell given that it's horribly out of tune. only one sticky key at the very end, which may be fixable at any rate. i'm soooo tempted to buy it, but it must weigh half a ton, easily. tuning it might cost $100, but moving it might cost $200 or more ( Read more... )

For about the same price as purchasing, moving, tuning, and fixing that piano, you can get a nice digital piano which doesn't need to be tuned, is light enough for you (or your friend) to carry, and has a volume knob and a headphone jack.

i know... but it's the idea of having an old-fashioned upright. it's like wanting to keep a typewriter, just to type on it. or writing letters with my fountain pen.

ok, ihri has convinced me (for now) that it's a very bad idea. for numerous reasons.

maybe when i move, i'll reconsider...
