3) Actually, I agree. I do think there's a completely different unbreakable vow working on Snape. I'm thinking it's going to be something a bit more twisted than Dumbledore requiring him to do it, though, because otherwise, why all the secrecy? Why couldn't Dumbledore just tell everyone "Oh, I trust Snape because of this unbreakable vow?"
All I know is: July can't get here fast enough! Order of the Phoenix movie and book seven! All in one month! Just might mitigate the fact that I'm turning 40 in June.
re 3: I don't know if there was an unbreakable vow involved, but there was definitely... something. Dumbledore knows that DADA teachers only last one year, so he knew that by putting Snape in that position something bad would happen to entail his leaving. Actually the vow makes sense, because I don't think Snape wanted to kill Dumbledore. I think he was compelled to - by Dumbledore, for the greater good. Now Snape will be trusted by Voldemort and be in a position to cause the most damage to the dark side.
