There wasn't enough time.

There was never enough time.

"There was a bit of slack in the schedule." The guard said with as much of a cheerful mood allowed by libria, "No one saw why she shouldn't go early."

And then he was running.
No thoughts, just the will to get there to her and do something stop this travesty from happening..

Father, I can't let her die-I can't! This is wrong, this is all wrong...

Passing through level upon level of guards he manages to make it to the death room.
"Mary!"

The guard came at him and he shoved him aside into the wall.

"Cleric." he flashes a badge, "I need to speak to this woman."

"Sorry sir-"

"I said I need to speak to her!" Preston growled, a lion, a lion now released from it's cage and ready to savage it's handlers.
His voice dropped to a whisper as he put a hand on her shoulder, his voice desperate-his eyes wide, feverish.

"Mary, Listen to me." his voice was hard, "I can't be without you, I can't. I don't care about anything else, I don't care ( ... )
