Great Big Sea

Great Big Sea was playing at Bumbershoot this Saturday and Alexis and Rachael and I went to see them. They were fantastic and fun, just as I'd imagined. But somehow, the ringleader of the group struck me as more odd than I could possibly have foretold ( Read more... )

I love great big sea. woo hoo for my fellow canadians.
The lead guy is kinda interesting... one of the guys I went to high school with actually married the lead singer's sister.

I didn't realize they did concerts and stuff in the US. Are they big there?

Seriously? This is some weird 6 degrees of separation thing. I know Nicole who knows ... yeah.

Ummm, their big in some circles in the states. They don't play on the radio much, but you get the right group of like-minded people together and you've got a good group of Great Big Sea fans. They've played in Seattle several times, actually.

Good to hear from you again! How is life going?

Life is going... I'm back at school for my senior year which I'm excited about. classes start thursday. The summer was crazy, I went back to my old camp and was the camp director. It was a good experience but stressful to say the least. I was hired last minute because the director had some work issues and to make matters worse I broke up with my gf just prior to camp starting so I was dealing with personal stuff on top of camp stress. I had to fire 3 staff, deal with a nasty neighbour and had a lice outbreak which half of the staff got it. but it's over and everyone survived! but yeah I feel a lot better being back at school and being surrounded by friends.

How is life going for you? I somewhat keep up to date with the lj friends posts but missed this summer. How are you doing?

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear that you broke up with your girlfriend right before camp, that does sound super stressful. But congrats on being camp director! Even if the position is difficult and crazy, that's still pretty cool stuff.

I just finally finished my senior year, so my girlfriend and I are trying to find jobs in Seattle. We just got a really cute place together and so all that's left is to find employment!

We both tried to work at a Quaker camp in Vermont, but it was really poorly run. Ummm, that's really and truly an understatement ... so decided not to finish the summer and things have been better ever since.

Yeah, I missed seeing them in Northampton this fall, but as luck would have it, it worked out just fine that I could see them in early September!

Things are well and I'm finally settling in post-graduation.
