That is indeed fondant. They are vanilla cupcakes with vanilla frosting underneath the fondant.

I'd never used or eaten fondant before. I have to say, I'm not real impressed with the taste, but it's not as bad as I thought it might be.

My experience with fondant is that its pretty nasty. But it makes fun things!
