Work is crazy, on Friday we had our 'how to handle dirty needles safely' training. Who knew working for the government was so full of unexpected danger and excitement? Not me, but wearing a uniform and working with the public is pretty interesting and I can't wait to really get into it. I'm still technically in training, until next week when I' ( Read more... )

Dirty needles are scary.

Wouldn't it be great if Willy Wonka teamed up with the Health Care system? We'd have everlasting eternally clean needles that wouldn't carry pathogens, regarless of how sick the person using them were?

Chocolate IVs, Edible casts and braces, bed pans that might carry a special golden ticket inside...

The list goes on!

Did you know that money is covered in Coke residue, so it's hard to get through prison security because your hands are covered with it? Ask me how! Man, who wants to be pawing through their dirty bedpan looking for tickets to paradise? And I actually think the morphine IVs are a delicious alternative to chocolate, although if you could get chocolate morphine I think you'd have a new superdrug on your hands. So if Willy Wonka were a pusher man in control of hospitals then we'd be set! Work is so fun though, because of all the money. And the people. I do it all for the people.

Coke residue?
Yeah, I remember reading a story about that from some English press…
I work at a credit union, spending my days counting money.
I have to wash my hands every couple hours, as they feel really gross.
How would I measure up through the prison detectors?
Some of the gals at work have a habit of having to wet their fingertips while they count. Most use a sponge, but one of them licks her fingers.
Isn’t that gross? Money is SO dirty…
But now that you mention the coke residue, I wonder if it’s cause she’s licking out of compulsion, desperately trying to get as much of the drug as she can.

From now on, I’ll keep my eyes on her to see if she’s stuffing her cheeks with bills to chew on while she works.

That’s always admirable to hear someone is motivated to work in order to help people…it’s becoming more and more rare these days.
